AI Modes are one of the most powerful features in Speech Recognition Cloud. Instead of just converting speech to text, AI Modes let you use your voice to transform, rewrite, and work with text in ways that go far beyond traditional dictation.

This video demonstrates AI Modes in action across real-world tasks.

What are AI Modes?

AI Modes activate when you start your dictation with a command word. Instead of typing what you say, the software interprets your instruction and applies AI processing to produce the result. You speak naturally, and the AI handles the rest.

For example, you might say:

  • “Rewrite this email in a more formal tone”
  • “Summarise the text on my clipboard”
  • “Translate this into Spanish”
  • “Write a reply to this email saying I agree with the proposal but suggest moving the meeting to Thursday”
  • “Turn these notes into bullet points”

The AI processes your instruction and places the result at your cursor, just like regular dictation.

Available on Professional and Medical tiers

AI Modes are included with the Professional ($159/year) and Medical ($439/year) plans. They are not available on the Free or Personal tiers.

The Medical tier includes restricted AI modes that limit processing to approved clinical transformations only, providing an additional layer of privacy for healthcare environments.

What you can do with AI Modes

Rewrite and rephrase — Change the tone of an email from casual to professional, simplify complex language, or make text more concise. Select the text, copy it, and tell the AI how you want it rewritten.

Summarise — Condense long documents, meeting notes, or articles into key points. Copy the content and say “summarise this” or “give me the key points from this.”

Reply and respond — Read an email and dictate your response intent. Say “reply to this saying I accept the invitation but cannot attend on Friday” and the AI drafts a complete response.

Translate — Dictate in English and have the AI output in another language, or translate copied text between languages.

Format and restructure — Turn rough notes into structured bullet points, convert a paragraph into a table format, or reorganise content into a different structure.

Answer questions — Copy content from a document and ask the AI a question about it. Useful for quickly extracting specific information from long text.

How to get started with AI Modes

  1. Make sure you are on the Professional or Medical plan
  2. Copy any text you want to work with to your clipboard (optional — some modes work without clipboard content)
  3. Press your hotkey to start recording
  4. Speak your instruction naturally (e.g. “rewrite this in a formal tone”)
  5. Release the hotkey — the AI processes your request and places the result at your cursor

Tips for best results

  • Be specific about what you want. “Rewrite this more formally” works better than just “rewrite this”
  • For rewrites and summaries, copy the source text to your clipboard first
  • AI Modes work in any Windows application, just like regular dictation
  • You can chain tasks — dictate some text first, then use AI Modes to refine it
  • If the result is not quite right, try rephrasing your instruction and run it again

Try it yourself

AI Modes are available immediately when you upgrade to the Professional tier. Visit speechrecognition.cloud/pricing to get started, or download the free version first and upgrade when you are ready.
