Settings guide

Configure Speech Recognition Cloud to work exactly how you want it. Open settings by clicking the gear icon in the main window.

General

View your account information, subscription status, and usage statistics.

Account

View your email, subscription tier, and usage allowance.

Statistics

Track your transcription count, speech duration, words per minute, and estimated time saved.

Manage subscription

Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription. View and download invoices.

Microphone

Select and monitor your microphone input.

Microphone selection

Choose which microphone to use for recording. SRC uses your Windows default microphone by default.

Level indicator

Real-time visual feedback showing your microphone input level. Useful for checking your mic is working and positioned correctly.

Activation

Configure how you start and stop recording.

Recording hotkey

Set the key to toggle recording on and off. Default is CapsLock. Popular alternatives include F1-F12, tilde (~), Scroll Lock, or Pause.

Modifier key activation

Hold modifier key combinations like Ctrl+Shift, Ctrl+Alt, or Win+Ctrl to record. Release to transcribe. Configure in the Hotkeys section.

Mouse activation

Use the middle mouse button to toggle recording for hands-free operation.

Escape to cancel

Press Escape during recording to cancel without transcribing.

Re-paste hotkey

Press Ctrl+Alt+V to paste the last transcription again. Useful if you forgot to place your cursor in the right field before dictating.

Vocabulary

Customise language and transcription settings for better accuracy.

Language

Select from 57+ languages or use auto-detect.

Transcription model

Choose your transcription engine. Ultra Accuracy mode available on Professional and Medical plans.

Custom vocabulary

Add names, technical terms, and context to improve accuracy for specialised terminology. Available on Personal plans and above.

Screen OCR

Automatically detect text on screen to improve transcription context. Available on Professional and Medical plans.

Replacements

Automatically transform transcribed text using find-and-replace rules. See the full text replacements guide.

Custom replacements

Create rules to replace words or phrases automatically.

Match options

Match anywhere, whole words only, at start, or at end of text. Flexible matching for compound words.

Case preservation

Maintain original capitalisation in replacements.

AI modes

Configure AI-powered text enhancement features. See the full AI modes guide.

Available modes

Enable or disable Write, Rewrite, Answer, Reply, and Run Command modes individually.

Medical restrictions

Medical plan uses restricted AI modes designed for clinical privacy requirements.

Run on startup

Automatically launch SRC when Windows starts.

Start minimised

Start SRC hidden in the system tray.

Sound on activate

Audio feedback when starting and stopping recording.

Toolbar

Show or hide the SRC toolbar in the Windows taskbar. Adjust toolbar size.

Advanced

Fine-tune transcription behaviour.

Double-tap to send Enter

Double-tap your hotkey to stop recording and automatically press Enter after the transcription. Useful for sending messages in chat applications.

Auto-spacing

Automatically adds a space before new transcriptions when you continue dictating without clicking elsewhere.

Spoken punctuation

Convert spoken punctuation words into their symbols. See the full punctuation guide.

Short segment punctuation

Skip adding ending punctuation for very brief transcriptions. Useful for single words or short commands.

Media playback

Automatically reduce or mute music and video while recording. Audio returns to normal after transcription.

History

View and manage your transcription history.

Transcription history

Browse, copy, or retry previous transcriptions. History is stored locally on your device only.

Clear history

Delete all stored transcription history from your device.
